Botswana Agate:
While agate can be found throughout the world, this type of agate is found
in Botswana, Africa, as the name indicates. Agate, in general, is named
after a river in Sicily, called Achates, where it was found in the Fourth
Century, B.C. Botswana agate bands show off colorful combinations of grey,
white or pink. The variation of the sizes and colors of bands make this a
fascinating stone. As all agates, Botswana is a type of chalcedony, found
lining cavities of volcanic rock. This type of agate is no longer
commercially obtainable due to political unrest. |
