Tiger Eye:
Found primarily in Africa, this stone makes beautiful jewelry and
beads. Brown iron produces the golden-yellow color in the bands. It is
found alongside Hawk’s eye in slabs a few inches thick and generally
contains bands of hematite. It is actually a type of quartz that is
sensitive to acids and is sometimes treated to turn it a beautiful red
or blue color. Occasionally it can be found naturally in blue or gray.
It is formed by the alteration of the mineral Crocidolite.
