Miner Jack Says:
"Rose Quartz:
Named for its color, this stone ranges from pale pink to a deep rose.
The color makes it a popular stone for jewelry and ornamental pieces.
For decades, it has been shipped to China where it is carved into
delicate collectible figures. Brazil is the world’s largest supplier
of rose quartz, but it is found in several locations throughout the
world, including the United States and Africa. Rose quartz found in
Africa provides the highest color quality for tumbling. Flawless,
clear rose quartz is rare. It is usually found crackled and cloudy."
"Snowflake Obsidian: Obsidian is
a type of natural glass. Its main compound is quartz; however, it has no
crystal structure. When hit with a hammer, it breaks into sharp, jagged
fragments. It is formed when lava cools very quickly and solidifies as a
glass because there was not enough time for the crystals to form. This
natural glass is not stable and after several million years,
small fibrous crystals of quartz and feldspar resembling snowflakes
replace the glass. This process, called dentrification, starts
from within the obsidian and spreads outward.
Origin: Utah"
